Ethiopian Community Center Summer Camp
Weeks of June 24 through August 23, 2013
ECS will offer nine weeks of fun-filled cultural experience for your children ages 5-12. The program is designed with a central theme for the week and always with an emphasis on Amharic language, Ethiopian dance, music, art, cooking and soccer. For students, who have been attending the camps for the last year, we have more structured language class during the day.
Daily schedule 9:00 – 3:00 p.m.
9:00 a.m. -10:00 am Group gathering. Greetings, weather report, songs, a story based on the theme.
10:30 a.m. -11:30am Mondays and Tuesdays: Soccer by “Tes Soccer Club coach.”
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: Dance and cooking
11:30 a.m. -12:00 p.m. Lunch
12:00 p.m. -1.00 p.m. Outside play (we will have hoops and balls for outside games)
1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Amharic lesson
2.30 p.m. -3.00 p.m, Afternoon snack
Themes
Our diverse languages, music, clothing, food, faiths, and for fun and to keep the mind sharp, we will learn about Insects, Birds and Sea Life.
Details
- The fee is $90 per week with a 10% discount for members or siblings.
- All campers should bring a lunch.
- After camp care is offered by camp teachers.
** We welcome teen volunteers 13 and over. They will be trained as assistant teachers and counselors**
